For bloggers and publishers, advertising performance data can be among their most valuable business records. An article’s reported ad impressions, publisher revenue and effective cost per thousand impressions (eCPM) may reveal which content performs well, which subjects require further investigation and where a publisher has invested considerable effort. Such records deserve careful handling—even when they do not contain passwords, Google revenue-share percentages or obvious personal details.
Privacy-first publisher analytics means collecting only information needed for an agreed research purpose, keeping individual publishers’ reports separate, and offering shared research use only through a distinct, authorized process. It also means being honest about what historical results can and cannot predict.
This guide explains the research approach being developed for JustGroupLink Research. It is an educational explanation of our intended standards—not evidence that every described software control has already passed testing or that every optional feature is enabled. Our Privacy Policy, Data Contribution Policy and Terms of Service govern the corresponding services and rights when they are offered.
1. Why publisher privacy matters
A publishing business may rely on revenue information to decide what to write next, where to invest time and which audiences to serve. Even a small exported report can reveal commercially important details: a high-performing article, a narrow niche, changes in monetization, or the time a campaign performed particularly well.
A responsible research service must protect these interests rather than treat uploaded reports as public content. That responsibility extends to data access, analytical output, retention, consent, third-party processing and the way recommendations are displayed to other customers.
Our intended principle is straightforward: the publisher’s private report is not the product being sold in the JustGroupLink marketplace. Eligible marketplace products are original research recommendations developed from appropriately authorized insights and independently obtained keyword evidence.
2. What historical publisher reports may contain
Our planned manual CSV importer is intended to accept suitable article-level exports from supported publisher reporting systems, including eligible Google Ad Manager and Google AdSense report formats. The exact columns available vary by reporting product, report configuration and account.
| Example field | Why it may be useful | How it should be handled |
|---|---|---|
| Article URL or reportable post identifier | Recognizes the article and its topic | Keep identifiable source records in the owner’s private research space |
| Reporting date or date range | Distinguishes different performance periods | Retain the time context; avoid treating old data as current |
| Ad impressions | Measures the amount of ad delivery represented | Do not label impressions as visitors or page views |
| Publisher revenue | Supports revenue-weighted analysis | Restrict access; do not publicly reveal article earnings |
| eCPM, where exported | Allows reconciliation against calculated figures | Preserve the metric definition and currency |
| Currency and demand type, where available | Makes comparisons more meaningful | Do not mix currencies or incompatible revenue types |
| Country, where genuinely reported | Supports appropriate geographic segmentation | Do not invent a geographic breakdown |
Not required: Google sign-in passwords, two-factor codes, Ad Manager or AdSense API keys, confidential revenue-share percentages, payment card details or unnecessary personal data. Users should remove such information before uploading a file.
3. Manual uploads—not direct Ad Manager or AdSense API access
Under the current JustGroupLink product plan, publishers manually export their own reports and upload the CSV files. We are not asking them to connect their Google accounts through a direct Ad Manager or AdSense API integration.
This distinction matters technically because it limits the credentials and live account access our platform needs. It does not eliminate the need to respect the publisher’s contract, relevant Google product terms, intellectual-property restrictions or privacy laws. A publisher should upload only material they are authorized to share and process.
Google Ad Manager’s published service-specific terms permit disclosure of certain Ad Manager reports to third parties while restricting disclosure of the revenue-share percentage or information from which that percentage can be determined. This does not, by itself, establish that every imaginable downstream commercial use is authorized. AdSense terms and individual publisher arrangements must be considered separately.
4. Two different purposes: private analysis and shared research
The distinction at the heart of this project is between two services:
Private publisher analysis. A publisher submits an eligible report so the platform can review the publisher’s own historical performance and produce a report for that same account. This does not require agreement to contribute data to research for other customers.
Optional shared research contribution. A publisher may separately authorize eligible derived insights to inform original research products available to other bloggers, where that use is permitted by applicable third-party terms and legal requirements. The original CSV, account identity, article-level revenue figures and other restricted information must not be exposed through marketplace reports.
These purposes should never be combined into a single compulsory or preselected permission. A customer who wants only private analysis must be able to decline optional contribution without losing access to the ordinary service.
5. Consent does not override a platform contract
Consent is important but is not a substitute for permission under another agreement. A publisher may agree to let JustGroupLink use their data, yet the relevant advertising or reporting contract may place additional limits on sharing or reuse.
Before a contributed dataset may inform commercial research, our intended workflow is to identify its source, confirm that the customer has appropriate rights to submit it, assess any provider-specific restrictions, and record the permitted scope of use. Google Ad Manager and AdSense reports should be assessed under their respective terms rather than treated as identical products.
Separate consent also does not permit us to disclose confidential account details, evade contractual restrictions or infer Google’s confidential revenue-share percentage.
6. What a meaningful contribution choice should say
A clear contribution interface should explain the difference between receiving personalized research and permitting eligible derived insights to support future shared research.
A contribution decision should be affirmative, specific, recorded, optional and understandable. It should not be hidden in general Terms of Service or obtained through a pre-checked box. The customer should know what categories of information may be analyzed, for what purpose, whether a discount is available, and how to withdraw authorization for future use.
For auditability, the platform should retain the applicable consent text/version, time, account, dataset reference and permitted research purpose without exposing these records to other customers.
7. How the planned 15% contributor discount works
Our proposed contributor program rewards a qualifying publisher who separately authorizes eligible shared research use. The reward is a 15% discount on a qualifying future research purchase, not cash payment for a report.
The proposed rules are that the report must be valid, new and useful for the stated research purpose; the contribution must pass relevant rights and quality checks; and duplicate or repeated uploads must not create unlimited discounts. Where a report is private-only or cannot lawfully be reused, the shared-contribution reward will not be offered.
The program uses the platform’s proposed research-credit system: 100 credits represent $1 in nominal service-purchasing value, with standard research pricing designed around six times direct delivery cost and a five-times direct-cost floor following an eligible 15% discount. Actual charges depend on the service quoted and must be approved before a paid request. These are product rules under development; any advertised discount must match the feature actually active at checkout.
8. Data minimization: collect what the research needs
More data does not automatically produce better research. We intend to prefer a restricted set of columns—article identifier, time period, impressions, appropriately defined revenue, eCPM where available and verified contextual dimensions—over complete account exports containing unrelated information.
Users should not upload identity documents, visitor-level data, customer email lists, payment credentials or unrelated financial records. When a supported report includes unnecessary columns, the importer should reject or omit them according to documented rules.
Data minimization reduces the impact of mistakes or unauthorized access and helps maintain a clear connection between the customer’s purpose and the information processed.
9. How files should be checked before analysis
A privacy-conscious CSV importer needs more than a file-upload button. Its intended checks should include supported file types and size limits; consistent column mapping; parsing errors; report dates and currencies; numeric validity; duplicate files and overlapping reporting periods; and potentially unsafe spreadsheet formula values.
For example, an exported column titled “Ad server impressions” should not silently be interpreted as website sessions. Revenue shown in different currencies should not be combined without a disclosed, reliable conversion method and exchange-rate date.
Files with missing or contradictory essential information should be flagged for correction. No customer should be told that an unverified export has been independently certified by Google merely because it passed a basic file-format test.
10. Why weighted eCPM is essential
A publisher’s average eCPM for several reporting periods should not be calculated by simply averaging the daily eCPM percentages or dollar amounts.
Weighted historical eCPM = (sum of compatible publisher revenue ÷ sum of compatible ad impressions) × 1,000.
| Illustrative period | Ad impressions | Publisher revenue | Period eCPM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | 100 | $9.00 | $90.00 |
| Day 2 | 900 | $45.00 | $50.00 |
| Combined | 1,000 | $54.00 | $54.00 |
The combined eCPM is $54, not the unweighted average of $70. This example is invented solely to explain the calculation.
The revenue and impression figures must relate to the same compatible metric, currency, dates and reporting scope. Different Ad Manager demand sources or reporting definitions should not be blended without appropriate classification.
11. High starting eCPM versus sustained performance
Some articles may begin with a very high reported eCPM based on relatively few ad impressions. A strong early value is interesting, but a handful of impressions can produce a misleading picture of durable performance.
Our intended analysis should show impression counts, revenue, reporting periods and eCPM trends together. It should distinguish early observations, more substantial historical samples and insufficient evidence. Articles should not outrank competitors solely because they briefly registered $90 or $100 eCPM.
Even a well-supported historical figure describes what happened under previous audience, ad-demand and site conditions. It does not guarantee that the same article—or a newly generated topic—will produce equal revenue tomorrow.
12. Keep CPC, eCPM and Page RPM separate
The platform works with several measurements that answer different questions:
| Measurement | Meaning | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Advertiser search CPC | Estimated cost of a click in a search advertising environment | A blogger’s actual AdX or AdSense earnings |
| Publisher eCPM | Revenue per 1,000 compatible ad impressions | Revenue per 1,000 page views |
| Page RPM | Revenue per 1,000 page views, when valid page-view data is available | Traffic-acquisition profit by itself |
| Search volume | Estimated searches for a term over a defined period | Guaranteed readers or conversions |
Ad impressions are not page views or Facebook visitor registrations. JustGroupLink should not derive Page RPM or advertising profit from impressions alone.
These distinctions make research recommendations more credible and reduce the risk of exaggerated earning claims.
13. From historical topics to new keyword opportunities
The intended topic-research process involves recognizing broad subject patterns from a publisher’s permitted performance history and then testing related keywords through appropriate independent market research, such as DataForSEO.
For example, eligible historical evidence may show sustained interest around newcomer rental housing. Separate research might identify currently relevant questions about deposits, tenancy rights, renters insurance or cost comparisons in a specified country or city. The system can use those signals to draft an original article brief.
That example does not imply that every rental topic has high CPC or that any future article will achieve the historical eCPM. Fresh keyword evidence, geographic relevance and factual verification must determine whether a recommendation is worth publishing.
14. Original topic recommendations, not copied reports
JustGroupLink’s intended marketplace product is an original research brief, potentially including a title, target market, keyword cluster, search-intent summary, evidence notes, editorial outline and questions for further verification.
Marketplace buyers should not receive another publisher’s uploaded CSV, private article earnings, unpublished source records, protected account identifiers or confidential business strategies. A recommendation should be supportable through rights-eligible insights and separate keyword research without reproducing restricted source data.
When evidence is insufficient to produce a useful recommendation without revealing the source, the safer option is to withhold the affected claim or report rather than reveal the underlying private information.
15. Why removing the website name is not enough
Anonymization is more complicated than deleting a publisher’s name or domain. A rare niche, distinctive article title, unusual date range, very high revenue figure or a combination of geography and performance metrics can still point back to one identifiable publisher.
A record may also be pseudonymized—for example, by replacing the account name with a code—yet remain identifiable to someone who can access other information. Pseudonymization reduces some risks; it does not automatically make personal data anonymous.
The UK Information Commissioner’s Office highlights risks such as singling out and linkability when assessing whether apparently anonymous information can identify someone. These concepts are also useful for protecting confidential publisher records even when the data does not constitute personal information. See the official guidance linked in the references below.
16. Privacy protections for any shared intelligence
Before eligible publisher-derived insights inform public or paid shared research, the intended controls should include:
- Removing direct identifiers, private URLs and unnecessary financial detail from shared outputs.
- Suppressing rare combinations and unusually specific statistics that could expose a contributor.
- Using sufficiently broad topic categories and carefully assessed contributor/sample thresholds.
- Restricting access to raw reports and private analytical records.
- Preventing customers from searching for or reconstructing one particular contributor’s data.
- Checking marketplace previews as well as full purchased reports for inadvertent disclosure.
- Reviewing re-identification risk whenever new research dimensions are introduced.
We should not promise that a fixed minimum number of contributors makes all results anonymous. Appropriate thresholds depend on dataset size, topic rarity, available outside information and the actual release context.
17. Publisher-specific workspaces and access control
A private dashboard should show a publisher only their own imported files, analysis results, research history and consent choices. Other customers must not access those records through guessed URLs, shared download links, search results or application endpoints.
The intended technical safeguards include authenticated access, server-side permission checks, secure file storage, appropriate encryption where applicable, access logging, upload validation and account-role separation. Administrators should receive only the access necessary for approved operational tasks.
These protections need live staging, security and authorization testing. A policy page does not, by itself, prove that the plugin enforces them.
18. Research provenance and a trustworthy audit trail
Every substantial research recommendation should retain an internal record of how it was produced, without revealing private inputs publicly. That record may include the keyword provider, report date, country, selected filters, confidence flags, the permitted category of historical evidence used and the applicable authorization record.
This makes it easier to investigate errors, correct reports, handle withdrawal requests and prevent stale claims from repeatedly appearing in the marketplace. Data provenance should support accountability, not become a back door that reveals publisher identity.
19. Accuracy, bias and feedback
A recommendation system trained only on historically successful subjects can overlook new opportunities and reproduce biases from a small contributor population. Publisher earnings may differ substantially by audience geography, traffic quality, ad inventory, season and site configuration.
Therefore, personalized historical matching should sit beside independent keyword discovery and a clearly labeled new or emerging opportunities category. The platform should acknowledge sparse evidence, conflicting results and unavailable CPC figures instead of inventing certainty.
Publishers should be able to report inaccurate article matches, misleading country assignments, duplicate recommendations and incorrect historical interpretations.
20. Withdrawing optional contribution permission
A contributor should be able to withdraw authorization for future optional shared research use, using the account controls when available or by contacting the support team. Ordinary private analysis should not depend on keeping that optional permission active.
The handling of previously generated products requires careful distinction. Stopping future input use is different from automatically recalling an already delivered, independently generated report; legal rights, technical feasibility, retained records and the applicable notice must govern each situation.
We should not promise instant deletion from every backup or automatic disappearance of previously purchased reports. The actual withdrawal process, retention exceptions and resulting actions must be explained transparently in the Data Contribution Policy and implemented in the software.
21. Deletion, retention and secure disposal
Private publisher files should be retained only for as long as justified by the declared service purpose, user instructions, applicable legal obligations and documented operational requirements. Raw uploads, processed metrics, consent records, payment information and backups may require different retention treatments.
We should give customers a clear way to request deletion of their eligible private reports and describe any records that must be retained for security, accounting, dispute handling or compliance.
Actual retention periods, backup locations and hosting arrangements must be verified against the deployed infrastructure before publishing firm promises about exact deletion deadlines.
22. International users and applicable data-protection duties
JustGroupLink Research is operated by Zileth Limited in Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria, but it may be accessed by publishers in several countries. Applicable privacy obligations can vary according to the individuals, business relationships, processing activity and places where information is stored or transferred.
Nigeria’s Data Protection Act 2023 and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission provide a key local legal framework. Additional requirements may apply to particular EU, UK or other international users. Where appropriate, processing notices, lawful bases, cross-border transfer safeguards and rights-request procedures must reflect the actual service.
The fact that a CSV is manually uploaded does not remove these obligations. Our approach must be based on what the data contains and what we do with it, not simply on the technical route used to upload it.
23. What users should look for before contributing data
Before submitting a publisher report, a customer should be able to answer these questions:
- What am I uploading? A supported report, without passwords, revenue-share percentages or unnecessary information.
- Who can view it? Only authorized processing personnel and the uploading account where their functions require access.
- What will I receive? A clear description of the private research report or recommendations.
- Am I contributing to shared research? Only if I make a separate informed choice and that use is permitted.
- What is the reward? If active and eligible, a one-time 15% discount under published criteria.
- What if I change my mind? A clear route to withdraw future-use authorization and request eligible deletion.
- How reliable are the findings? Visible dates, data limitations, sample information and source explanations.
A trustworthy platform should make these answers easier to find, not hide them behind technical language.
24. A practical example of privacy-first research
Scenario: A publisher uploads a manual Ad Manager CSV containing dated article identifiers, ad impressions, revenue and eCPM. The system validates the file and produces a private performance summary. Its calculation identifies a stronger historical topic category, while marking low-volume outliers as uncertain.
Private-only route: The publisher receives personalized article ideas informed by their own report and fresh keyword research. No shared contribution is made, and no contributor reward is claimed.
Optional contribution route: If the publisher separately opts in, has the necessary rights, and the contribution is accepted, carefully controlled derived signals may inform original research for the wider marketplace. The raw CSV and individual revenue figures remain confidential. If the contribution program is active, a qualifying discount may be issued.
Marketplace result: Another blogger might purchase a newly generated article brief about a different market or angle. They should see the brief’s current keyword evidence, research limitations and original recommendations—not the contributor’s confidential data.
This scenario describes the intended workflow. It must be tested against the actual plugin features, data-use permissions and security controls before being promoted as a functioning guarantee.
25. The boundaries of what privacy-first analytics can promise
Privacy-first research can improve relevance, transparency and confidence, but it cannot promise that a future article will earn a particular eCPM, Page RPM, number of visitors or advertising profit. A powerful article title is not a substitute for original research, responsible writing, accurate local information and audience relevance.
Likewise, an uploaded report is owner-supplied historical evidence, not independently verified Google certification. The platform should not misstate the evidence’s strength or hide meaningful data limitations.
The central commitment is to deliver useful research without making another publisher’s confidential reporting figures the product.
